What is KEES?
My name is Merle Hearns and I am the founder of Kaleidoscope Essential Education Services (Takawhīwhiwhi). KEES is designed to meet current educational needs:
• The need for educators to improve digital skills and move content to the online environment
• The need for educational research and the maintenance of academic integrity in the online teaching space
Experience
I started teaching online in 2006. I have digital skills, as well as the ability to make online learning vibrant and personal.
Qualifications
I have a range of degrees and certifications, including a PhD in Education. Check out my CV (or my digital CV).
Research
I am an avid researcher. I was awarded the Chancellor's Doctoral Research Medal by the University of New England (Feb 2020).
Flexibility
My aim is to meet individual and institutional goals. I will listen and respond to your needs.

We offer essential services
Marking
Marking at all levels: communication, literacy, teaching, education, research, etc. ($50 per hour)
External Moderation
External moderation for assessment material ($70 per hour)
Content Creation
Content creation or support for content creation ($50 per hour)
One-on-one PD
Sessions for online teaching, tools, apps, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, virtual worlds, etc.; digital or face-to-face ($80 per hour)
Group/Staff PD
Sessions for online teaching, tools, apps, virtual worlds, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, etc.; digital or face-to-face (negotiable depending on numbers/duration)
NZCATT/NZCALNE Support
Sessions as required for support of staff learning online, may include micro-teaching, teacher observations, etc, (negotiable depending on requirements)
Editing and/or Examining
Editing of exegeses and/or theses, supervision and examination of post-graduate students (cost varies by organisation)
Miscellaneous
I am available to discuss individual/organisational requests; may include course design and approval, workplace assessment, facilitation, etc. (negotiable)
